DancEast School Attire Guidelines

All dancers are expected to wear appropriate dancewear, with hair properly secured, and no jewelry (stud earrings are acceptable). School clothes or "street" clothes are not permitted in dance classes.

Hair Requirements

  • Hair should always be secured away from the face for better focus and comfort during dance class

  • Hair must be secured in a bun for Ballet and Pointe classes (Tutorial: How to Create a Ballet Bun)

Footwear Policy

IMPORTANT: All dance shoes (including breakdance sneakers) should NEVER be worn outside the studio. Wearing dance shoes outside ruins the sole and tracks dirt and other debris into the studio, causing damage to our floors.

Jewelry Policy

  • No jewelry or watches are permitted except for stud earrings and body piercings that cannot be removed.

Clothing Guidelines

  • Close-fitting dance warm-ups may be worn only at the beginning of technique class until the instructor requests their removal

  • Children's Division (Dancing Duos, Creative Movement, and Primary) dancers may wear dance sweaters during winter months if necessary

  • Cover-ups must be worn to and from class - dancers should never enter or leave the studio wearing only their dance attire

Compliance Policy

  • Students who do not come dressed appropriately for class may be asked to change or observe class instead of participating.
